Computer - a gadget of excellence or a weapon fr mass destruction?

"I think there is a world market for maybe five computers." -- Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, 1943

Mwahahahaha!! i laughed my ass out evrytime i ran into comments like this. this r some, if not all, the negative perception on computers back in d 1900's. i bet d person who quoted it will die of shame if he lives to see today - n to think dat it comes from d mouth of IBM chairman. damn r we dat negative b4?

Now what is a computer? to tell u d truth, i dunno shit bout it. well, i do know some. but its too common to evryone - how to switch it on, how to reboot, how to format etc. laugh all u can, i'm not a geek to know evry inch of it. but i'v done my own research bout it, n those below r things dat i manage to get from the Wikipedia.

" A computer is a machine that manipulates data according to a list of instructions.
The first devices that resemble modern computers date to the mid-20th century (around 1940 - 1945), although the computer concept and various machines similar to computers existed earlier. Early electronic computers were the size of a large room, consuming as much power as several hundred modern personal computers.[1] Modern computers are based on tiny integrated circuits and are millions to billions of times more capable while occupying a fraction of the space.[2] Today, simple computers may be made small enough to fit into a wristwatch and be powered from a watch battery. Personal computers, in various forms, are icons of the Information Age and are what most people think of as "a computer"; however, the most common form of computer in use today is the embedded computer. Embedded computers are small, simple devices that are used to control other devices — for example, they may be found in machines ranging from fighter aircraft to industrial robots, digital cameras, and children's toys.
The ability to store and execute lists of instructions called programs makes computers extremely versatile and distinguishes them from calculators. The Church–Turing thesis is a mathematical statement of this versatility: any computer with a certain minimum capability is, in principle, capable of performing the same tasks that any other computer can perform. Therefore, computers with capability and complexity ranging from that of a personal digital assistant to a supercomputer are all able to perform the same computational tasks given enough time and storage capacity "

" To use a computer, first plug in the socket into a plug n then juz simply switch it on " I bet u'll be slapped to death if u answer d question on how to use computer dat way. but unfortunately, dat iz all i know. so pliz excuse me. Computer is a very potential gadget to us humans. not only fr now - but years to come.

TRUST ME.
WE NEED IT.

Do They Care..or They Pretend To..??

Bwahh..!! The first week of my university life start offs beautifully, but this week its really beginning to be a real payne in the arse. why? all d shuffling of d class had really annoy me. a transfer from the joyful yet advanced class to a boring yet dimful environment of d C class - damn i'm gonna puke. huh? did i miswrite something? owh..we should write bout ourselves..ok, name's Wan Muhammad Amin. hails from kelantan ( n very proud of it indeed ) a typical kampung boy who loves to play in the tali air, shooting monkey n then run off after being chased, and a whole wide world of difference between u n me. call me childish, call me outdated - but pliz keep in mind -- I DUNNO N I DUN FUCKING CARE. cuz i know dat regardless of how bad today is, there's always a better tomorrow.
